Work

Work was quite stressful today.

I actually had a customer yank my whole shoulder because he thought I was going to fall on his daughter. What bullshit. Seriously, if I was going to fall on her it would have happened. But it didn't. I just gave him a glare and walked away. I am not going to apologize for something I obviously didn't do or even happened. You can go and shove it.

It actually aggravated an injury in my wrist I had from putting away BTS. I am not sure what I should have done. Apologized and went on with life? Started causing drama? Cussed at him? Or was walking away the best option.

If there is something I am angry about is that I never stood up for myself. It's actually the one thing I suck at when I am alone and not around friends. I should work on it. I can't bargain or barter because of it and it is also why I always get ripped off at Pacific Mall. Sad, but in the end I did get hurt and I have to fill out an incident report because of his over-protectiveness.

Next time, I will opt for an option of: "Don't fucking touch me." I don't care if it's work. I've had things in my past where there is a reason why I never liked people touching me. It was only the past couple of years that I have gotten used to hugs and touch. No one has the right to touch me without permission. This reminds me of the time when this European customer actually pushed me from his cart because I was 'removing his items'. How the fuck am I supposed to know that it was your stuff when you were in the next department and it was sitting there for 30 minutes untouched?

I should have let his push knock me to the ground. Then started crying in pain.

Man, this reminds me of just how unhappy I am with my job. Not just my job. But a retail job. I honestly am not built for the mass-market retail environment. I get more satisfaction making things then serving people as if they come off a conveyor belt.

Eye Obssession - Geo Circle Lenses

Recently, I mentioned in a previous post I started buying circle lenses.

Just a couple days ago I bought a pair of new ones. The Geo Ashwing circle lenses. Not exactly up to my standards in terms of the look. While the do make my eyes seem bigger they blend in with my dark eyes more then my Geo Nudy Brown's. Quite sad, I would think that the grey would make my eyes 'pop' essentially but instead they gave my eyes a blended look. Partially exotic but definitely not as stand-out as the Nudy Brown's despite having a black circle around the edge of the contact lenses.

Here is a brief picture of exactly what I am talking about:

Forgive me for the rather unflattering photos. Being a vaguely nocturnal creature, my source of light at 2AM in the morning is limited to fluorescents in my bathroom. The first picture would be that of my Nudy Browns and the second being that of the Ashwing.

The first was bought from Pacific Mall located at Kennedy/Steeles. At Kidult for $45 + $1 for a case. The second was at Dreambox for $42. My friend, actually somehow got them cheaper then I did at Adultkid for $40 + case. What the hell.

Either way, this won't be the last time I buy them. My next ones should be Nudy Green and Angel Violet. I will be getting my prescription done very soon so that I can stop experiencing halos and blurriness after I wear them. :)

Old Connections & Paid Design Gig

Facebook is the catalyst to some rather interesting opportunities of the late:

My bestfriend from elementary whom I haven't seen in 12+ years contacted me on Facebook after noticing that I looked rather different in a recent profile picture. She wanted to meet up with me. In the display picture I was wearing the leather dress pictured in the display picture of this blog and without my usual nerdette glasses. It's strange, how if one steps up on appearance in pictures the attention and love just pours right in. This is exactly WHY I try not to dress a certain 'sexy' way to entice male attention from outside of the relationship. Once I slapped those pictures on my Facebook the next day I had co-workers at work telling me how hot I looked while my significant other was but a mere several feet away.

AWKWARD.

Another interesting opportunity that arose is a friend I met from volunteering at a cultural festival 2 years ago had another friend who was looking for designers. I got offered a paid gig (not sure how much yet) to design scarves and hats. More details to come later. This would be my first paid gig job outside the usual get-go.

Money makes the World turn and my Wallet burn...

Lately, I have been putting off the purchase of my serger for what some may call sentimental reasons. Simply, by blowing that much money even with the aid of my significant other I will be reducing the chances of using my money on things I don't have to make. Sad. Very sad.

I've come to realization that my almost local mall - not the strip mall a little ways from my house - is simply the best place at the moment to shop. Usually, I dislike shopping in malls but nowadays I find myself shopping in the mornings to early
afternoon hour where the crowds aren't so thick with humanity. I get overwhelmed, even at work with all the emotions, noise, sme
ll, body heat, and physical presence generated from a crowd. It's not I am sensitive or very claustrophobic but I do get a sense of being trapped and get headaches from it.

But shopping is especially fun alone. The significant other is unable to take my usual shopping behaviour which entails entering a store for a few seconds, running a quick scan with my eye lasers, and then exiting to do the same to the store next door. I weird habit, but boys are so intolerable sometimes of shopping and I expect this sort of behaviour to be quick and painless for him. But apparently, it makes me seem weird in public.

Shopping alone may entail a lot more freedom to do thorough search through most retail stores but it also means there's no one to tell you NOT TO BUY THAT item. I ended up buying a $129 wool coat from H&M (after consultation from my mom that we'd be able to replicate the pattern within a month then return it) and an elegant date dress from Forever21.

Also, since I am moving into a condo soon with my parents I've decided to utilize as much space as possible buy considering the purchase of a loft bed from IKEA. It's not my usual style but I don't mind if it gives me a LOT of space for all the things I will be taking with me.

That being said, my materialistic adventures with my friend, D. have brought both of us at the foot of one of the hottest Asian fashion trends out there. Circle Lenses. Believe it or not, despite being Asian in appearance, deep inside I think I would closely associate myself to being a White girl. I had absolutely NO CLUE that Asian models and actresses...etc. usually weren't naturally pretty.

It was only recently after some vague research that almost everything was faked:

- No girl can really have smooth hair without a single flyaway = aid of a hair straightener.
- No girl can have such big eyes = aid of circle lenses.
- No girl can have such a nose = aid of plastic surgery.
- Not all girls can have double eyelids = aid of double eyelid surgery.
- No girl can have such impeccable skin = aid of 4 layers of make-up + photoshop.
- No girl can have natural nails that can hold charms = aid of false nails + glue.
- No girl has eyelashes that perfect = aid of eyelash extensions + fake lashes.

It almost makes me believe that this natural beauty thing that magazines dole out is simply a freaking lie. My life is a bit of a lie because of all this. But, even so, I ended up buying some Geo Nudy Brown circle lenses and gosh, they make me look so pretty. :) Pictures will be up soon of this.

Love,
Oni
